Meet the Team

The Shack is a collective of food business operators, placemakers, and designers joined by their vision of activating spaces in Providence that promote community, beauty, and ecological sustainability.

Stay Silent PVD

Stay Silent PVD is an agency founded by Sabrina Chaudhary and Jason Almeida that focuses on creative projects, events, and marketing. Since its December 2012 launch, they've produced numerous successful events in Providence including the summer festival series Day Trill, and monthly events such as #AuxSocial, Bounce House, CHUNES!, and Luv U Better.  They've coordinated with venues from Aurora Providence to the Alex and Ani City Center while also holding events in their own non=profit retail and gallery space, Trade Pop-Up. Bringing this expertise and enthusiasm for Providence's city culture, Stay Silent manages events and media for The Shack.

Dune Brothers Seafood

Dune Brothers Seafood emerged from a shared feeling of homesickness and a shared plate of smelts. Nick Gillespie and Jason Hegedus, culinary school roommates and longtime friends, decided to quell a deep need for New England home-cooking after working in top kitchens and managing restaurants across the US. Working with local fishermen and farmers in Rhode Island, Nick and Jason pursue a sustainable seafood model at The Shack to bring the Ocean State's bounty of amazing fish and shellfish to Rhode Islanders' daily lives.

I-195 Redevelopment District

The I-195 Redevelopment District Commission was created to serve as the responsible authority for the sale, marketing, and oversight of land made available after the 2013 relocation of the I-195 in downtown Providence. Through designating parcels of "195 land" to commercial, institutional, or residential reuse, the District aims to support workforce development, education and training, and the growth of knowledge-based jobs that embrace the Providence's demographics and community.

Design Under Sky

Design Under Sky (DUS) is a collaborative landscape architecture studio founded and directed by Landscape Architect and RISD Adjunct Professor Adam E. Anderson. As a studio, DUS is inspired by the ever-changing landscape of design and approaches each project by first understanding the inherent culture and qualities of a site. By doing so, they aim to cultivate landscapes as fundamental, expressive layers to cities and towns. DUS led The Shack's project design and also currently spearheads the "10,000 SUNS" park and garden project along the Providence River.
